DESCRIPTION:
Ansonia Clock Co., New York, "Sibyl and Gloria" mantel clock, 8 day, time and strike, spring driven movement in a two-piece case featuring two putti flanking the white porcelain dial in the center of the base, the top with a large winged female figure holding a lyre.
CONDITION:
The spelter case is in good condition with no obvious breaks or losses. It has a green finish which is probably not original but has some age. It gives an impression of something like a vibrant verdigris. The gilding has mostly worn off of the cast figures and ornaments. The white porcelain dial has one fine hairline crack. The beveled glass is very good. The pendulum is absent. The minute hand is a replacement. The round Ansonia movement is signed.
